Motivation

Personal experiences watching ambulances stuck in horrible traffic over and over

  • Traffic jams
  • Lack/ignorance of general awareness of emergency practices and road safety
  • Lenient traffic rules
  • No/limited traffic penalties.

Solution

Decrease Emergency Response Time

Fits Indian Traffic Culture

No Overhead for Emergency Responders

Affordable & Integrates into Existing System

Ideas

  • Road safety and EMS awareness

  • Newer and harsher traffic rules and penalties for violation

  • Air ambulance facility

  • Well-medically-equipped ambulances

Uses existing GPS in ambulances

SMS + GPS

Our Solution

Ambulance dynamically sends early/heads up SMS to all traffic police on its way to destination

Design Choices

  • SMS is chosen as India has almost 100% mobile phone saturation & bulk of them are not smart phones.

  • Ambulances in India are already equipped with mobile internet and GPS, so use that as input.

  •  Web based applications for wider support and easier deployment.

  • Deploying smart devices in ambulances adds additional cost and theft risk.
